INDUSTRIAL GRUNGE MIRROR

Hi to all,
I'm late in posting this so ill be quick,

over at simon says stamp and show blog
the theme this week is SHOW SOME EMBOSSING
so I decided to do an ikea mirror,

This also fits the ANYTHING BUT A CARD
challenge over at simon says stamps challenge blog

& it fits for gingersnap creations blog
the theme of GC90: CHARMS

here it is,

I went with an industrial look for this one as you can see,

I have used these mirrors before & buy them in job lots,

because they are such a good base to work on,

& they are such a good prices at £1.19

(look back at older posts to see the other mirrors
in different styles I have made)

I have put a piece of white paper over the mirror to get better photos.

so what did I use?

well I used,

grunge paper, a  cuttlebug & an assortment of embossing folders,

black soot distress ink,  various Tim Holtz idea-ology,

the journey stamp is one of Tim's, a black gel pen,

jet black archival ink, clear embossing powder,

Eco friendly acrylic paint

(gold, aged gold, silver, aged silver, copper & bronze)

buttons, corners & the bracelet parts are from my stash,

Here's some close ups,

       

All i did was run the grunge paper (in an embossing folder)

through my cuttle bug, then cut it up into 4cm squares,

then painted them with acrylic paint, arranged & stuck them to the mirror

I then swiped the black soot ink pad over the whole thing

(this gave it that dirty aged look)

I then drew faux cross stitches over the whole thing

with the black gel pen,

I sorted out some bits & bobs

& stuck them to the mirror with silicone glue.

& that's about it.

STILL ON THE OLD CATCH UP......

For the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge,
I have managed to get 3 more tags done (only 3 more to go
{I am determined to get them done before the whole thing ends}
silly me, miss counted last time I thought I only had 5 more to go,
but no it's defiantly 6 lol)

I would like to use this one as my entry for
Try it on a Tuesday blog the theme this time is a
TAG, to include hearts & flowers,
(I thought the leaf vine looks a bit like upside down hearts)

This tag is for Shabby Chic technique way back in week 4

I used black & juniper paint dabbers,

clear embossing powder & versa mark ink,

stamps used are,

leaf vine, Dylusions (around the edge set)

flowers, Paper artsy (hot picks)

wording, for the life of me I cant remember (sorry)

Ten Second Studio metal (copper & gold)

This tag is for Distress Powder back in week 5,

I used vintage photo & brushed corduroy distress ink,

vintage photo distress powder,

distress embossing ink,

background stamp, Tim Holtz slight alteration set,

wording, hero arts (wood mounted)

scrap of lace, butterfly & flower from my ever growing stash.

This one is for Alcohol Agate Grunge, week 15,

I used alcohol ink (pesto, oregano & denim)

Tim Holtz hanging sign die,

distress ink (brushed corduroy)

background stamp is from the artistic stamper,

wording is one of Tim's,

the fibers, butterfly & metal flowers are from my stash.

MEET MR & MRS WATTS (LOL)

Hi all,
thought I would shear with you my tag for the
COMPENDIUM OF CURIOSITIES CHALLENGE
It's week 31 & the technique this week is RUSTED ENAMEL,

 it's the new king & queen of ceiling town

to make this tag I used,

distress ink,

(vintage photo, brushed corduroy & weathered wood).

the fantastic light bulb stamps are from the artistic stamper

(I brought these stamps last year at ally pally & finely decided to use them

when I saw Sue Roddis journal page over on

 the artistic stamper creative team blog 

fabulous page go check it out)

& the wording is a Wendy Vecchi.

I also used,

clear embossing powder,

heart wings alterations die,

the lock is idea-ologe

the key & fibers are from my stash.

I loved this technique

(I must have flicked through Tim's book

hundreds of times & never really read this page)

I will be using this one again.

Another quick post today,
I feel like I'm chasing my tail all the time lately lol,

Anyway I made my entry for studio L3
the COMPENDIUM of CURIOSITIES Challenge,

ORIENTAL (card)

Hi all,
Quick post today as I haven't made my entry's for
Cof C challenge or SSS&S challenge yet
& I must get onto it.

So here's my entry for the stamp man challenges blog
the theme this time is ORIENTAL,
head over there to check it out,

As you can see I have made a card this time,

(not a tag {yay me!!!} lol)

I can't remember the last time I matted & layered,

(when I first started paper crafting & card making

that's pretty much all I did , so this card feels like coming home)

I really enjoyed making it.

to make this card I used,

an assortment of different types of card & paper from my stash,

(black, gray, gray/silver embossed, gold mirri & pearl white)

to matt & layer.

I used an image I found on a google search

(I put in oriental ladies, & this was one of the first ones that came up)

I used black organza ribbon & a pair of dangle earrings

(bought from a charity shop 3 pairs for £1.00 bargain hay!)

& Martha Stewart punch.

The stamps I used are from,

Paper Artsy hot pick 1009 (flowers) &

Tim Holtz urban chic CMS086 (phrase)

I stamped them in a Dazzle versamark ink pad (frost)

& then embossed with a clear embossing powder.

I HAD A LIGHT BULB MOMENT TODAY...

....Well at least I think it is,

I have been looking at other peoples journals all round blog land
for quite some time now, in absolute awe,

I especially like the style of Dyan Reaveley (I have bought a lot of her products
which include, the new stamp sets, her acrylic paints & spray inks
& most of her downloads)
I have had them on my work desk for ages,
but I have been to much of a chicken to crack it all open & have a go.

Well I finally plucked up the courage yesterday
& tried the paints on some paper scraps I had laying around (I firkin loved then)
but I didn't have a journal to make a page with,
so I pretty much left it there & went on to something else.

A while later I thought, I'm sure I read somewhere
(it could have been on Dyan's blog)
of people using old ledgers & dictionaries to do there journaling in,
so I dug out some old children's books I got from a car boot (6 for £1)
& thought that's a good size for me, not to big & not to small,
no the book I chose to use was not Goldie locks & the three bears (lol)
It was in fact Heidi,

 

I felt the pages were a bit thin so I stuck 2 pages together  

with Claudine Hellmuth studio multi medium (matte)

then coated a few pages with gesso,

because I read that's what your supposed to do (I think!)

Any way I thought what have I lost if it all goes horribly wrong?

(less than 20p a bit of glue & a bit of gesso, to be precise lol

I didn't want to take ages covering the cover

because I just wanted to get started on a page, 

so I just stuck some handmade paper inked over with vintage photo distress ink

to the front & the spine,

 at this point it could have all still been going in the bin,

Well I'm sure if you have stuck with me on this waffle of a post

you know it worked,

Here's my first ever journal page,

The stamps & downloads I used can be bought from

art from the heart's shop 

I can't believe how much satisfaction I got out of making this page,

I keep looking at it & smiling (lol) what am I like, little things & all that,

I can definitely see why people get addicted to art journaling.

JOURNAL CALENDER (February 2011)

Hi all,
No window speak today (lol)

My February page is ready to show off
I am really enjoying this challenge,
My finished January page will appear by magic near the bottom of this post,

(I'm on time can you believe it!!!) (lol)

For those of you that are not in the know,
this challenge lasts the whole year,
you have to journal every day in the form of 12 monthly calender pages,
& then head over to the kathryn wheel blog & link up your creation,
so Kate Crane & any one else can see what you have come up with,

Like the sound of that? you can jump in at any time along the way,
so get cracking & head over HERE to check it out.

Around blog land there are challenges up about love
(so I thought I would enter my pages for them as it contains lots of hearts)
over at simon says stamp and show the theme is, SHOW SOME LOVE.
& over at  the artistic stamper creative team blog the theme is ALL THINGS LOVE.
Now with out further a do,
here's my February page,

OK my confidence is still not brave enough to stick

anything down yet in case I make a mistake,

(the hearts for the dates are not even  stuck to the squares yet) lol,

Here's some shots of how the page came together,

I started with 2 sheets of A4

& used scattered straw distress ink blended as shown,

Then it was a bit of wild honey round the edge,

& then a bit of barn door to draw the eye in,

here's the end result,

Next I used a heart stencil & a spray ink (dylusions)

to get the hearts at the bottom of the pages.

Now for the stamping part,

I used  Tim Holtz urban chic &

Creative Expressions vintage hearts,

sorry I don't remember who the flourishes belong to

but you can see the sheet in the picture.

the distress inks I used for the stamping are also in the picture.

that's my page, ready for embellishing

The word February is spelt from tiles that came from a hang man game

that I got out of a pound shop.

the days of the week are printed off of my computer,

as are the dates (this time I used a heart punch)

well it is valentines in Feb (Hence the heart theme)

I also used old book pages to stamp the hearts on

that are placed around the page.

the squares are part of a kit I got as a TSV on QVC ages ago,

(I decided to use more plane squares this time

as on the January page you cant read some of the writing properly)

well you do learn from your mistakes (lol)

For all you double clickers out there like me,

There are a couple of spelling mistakes (lol)

I must say I did find it hard to confine what I had to say

on these little squares, on the days that I had lots to say,

I also used some clip art to enhance some of the squares.
