JOURNAL CALENDER (January 2011)

Hi all,
I have some exciting news,
I read about this in Craft Stamper Magazine last month,
& found Kate's blog the kathryn wheel
I have decided to join in,
click the link to read all the details,
and while your there check all her amazing art work out,
she makes it look so effortless.

You need to make a page a month & blog it I think?
(I love the idea of doing something that lasts the whole year)
I am hoping this will cure me of my journaling phobia,

So here is my January (none of it is stuck down yet in case it all goes horribly wrong lol) or I need to add to it.

I think I will show you my pages like  this every month near the beginning of the month
& then the finished page at the end or beginning of the following month.

Here's how I achieved it
I took 2 A4 white pieces of card &
blended old paper Distress ink over them,

Then went round the edge with brushed corduroy,
to give it a more vintage look,

I used all Tim Holtz stamps
as follows,
Harlequin stamp off visual artistry (french market)
splatter stamp off bitty grunge cms089
large clock & brolly man off life's possibilities
small clock off mini classics cms062
the word January is from alphabet set mini cirque cms079

This is the background so far,

I used my pink bind it all for the holes,
as I am going to make it all separate and bind it at the end of the year
with some sort of flash covers.

The squares were all precut to the right size (handy)
they were part of a QVC, TSV a couple of years ago
by Cosmo Cricket.

The numbers on the squares are cut from a punch that
has never cut properly (it leaves jagged edges
(perfect for this project I thought)

The days of the week & numbers I done on the computer
(I made enough for the whole year of both
plus a few spear so I don't have to faff around with that again)

Other things I used are as follows,
frayed burlap DI, clear embossing powder,
archival ink (coffee)
post its (to mask off the clock's)

I have had my page at this stage for a couple of days
waiting for the first, to start the journal part of the process,

I didn't think a one and a half inch square could be so daunting, lol
(I am not a very good journal er at the best of times
I find it hard to know what to write, & I'm such a bad speller,
so I thought this project would be perfect
because it would make me do it, lol
I have sat staring at the first square on & off all day,
I have come back to  it three times, & it is still blank,
It's not that I don't know what to write this time,
it's how to do it, & what if I don't space it properly etc,

Do you know what I am going to bite the bullet,
I'll finish this post, then get up stairs & just do it, (lol)

hope you like it,

Thanks for stopping by,
back soon,
 Kat x.
