THOSE PESKY BIRDS journal page

Hi all,
I'm here with my creation for
the artistic stamper creative team blog
I have made a journal page this time,
I hope you can stop by the post to read all the details HERE
here's a peek,

I have used my own hand drawn image, he's a bit shy, his name is Meenie,
& he is from a group of empathy monsters I have drawn, he has 3 brothers
Eenie, Mineey & Moe, that I am sure will be introducing themselves
to you all in my art work very soon,
they all have there own unique flower & phrases to go with them,
but for this page Meenie has borrowed Eenie's flower,
here he is,

he is having a bad day,
all the birds have decided to nest on his head,
but as he is such a kind & gentle monster
he is making the best of it, LOL.

I Hope you like him, he just wants to be loved.

here he is in all his galore
on his first journal page,

hope you like it!

RED WHITE & BLUE

Hi all I'm here to show my challenge piece for this months challenge over at
the artistic stamper creative team blog
the theme this time is RED,WHITE & BLUE,
if you fancy joining us please click HERE

as you can see it's rather a masculine looking card, & not my general style at all,
but I quite like the neatness of it,

I used the keep calm & carry on stamp & the flags from the London set of stamps, I stamped the images in Jet Black archival ink onto white card, then Matt & layered onto red & blue card, I die cut a pair of wings from Tim Holtz Heart Wings Die using textured card,

then assembled the whole thing using foam pads to give some dimension,
finishing off with a red ribbon & bow.

hope you like it!

SO SORRY I HAVE BEEN MISSING IN ACTION & art work with my new house stamps

I haven't been doing any crafting of any sort for the last few weeks due to a very hectic home life, & it's been hectic at work too,
I don't really speak about personal stuff on my blog, as I think fellow crafter's are here to look at the art & craft stuff & not have me waffle on about me & mine (we all have our own issues & things going on)

but I feel I owe you all a little explanation, so to out line a little, my mum broke her back, & was in hospital for ages, now she is home I have to help her every day after work, my sister-in- law died unexpectedly at 42, leaving 3 of her children that were still at home & all under 18, with no where to live (long story) my niece had just had a baby of her own she was only 2 months old when it all happened, so they all moved in, my father-in-laws cancer came back & he died with in a month (more hospital visits & another funeral to go to) I work full time & have my husband & 15 year old son to look after, & all that goes with them as well, so I have been stretched pretty thin,
so no time for crafting,  for a lot of us, crafting is our own little quiet place to get away from every day life
(well it is for me) but there hasn't been enough hours in the day or the inclination to do it, my art & craft seems to be the first to be put on the back burner, when I have a lot going on, & the mojo theft comes & steels any ideas I have in my head.
any way enough about me,
Jennie (the artistic stamper) was so nice about letting me have a few weeks of of the design team,
thank you Jennie, I do appreciate your patience with me.
I am hoping to get back to it soon,
& while all my personal life has been messed up, I have also had my first set of stamp designs (houses) made into rubber, EXCITING they are now available to buy from the artistic stamper so my art work will be focusing on them I expect, LOL. I have submitted more designs in this range so if you like the houses the WATCH THIS SPACE, any way I have waffled on about me for long enough,
here is some art work
the first thing I have made with my house stamps for the artistic stamper creative team

here are some close ups of each panel.

I have used distress inks to colour the whole thing in
& scraps of card,
the frame is a blank craft frame that I painted with black acrylic
paint & added some inka gold in antique silver to age it.

hope you like it!

I'M NOT BOSSY JOURNAL PAGE

Hi all,
I'm here today to shear a journal page with a pull out tag,
it's my last project for Feb over at
the artistic stamper creative team blog
if you want the details please click HERE

This is page one of a journal I am going to put together
the plan is, that each page will be different,
this page has a hidden side pocket,
the next page may incorporate a
pull down flap or be a different shape
but each page will have a black binding strip
as shown.
the idea is to have a more interactive book.

I am quite pleased with this one
I love the Punch & Judy phrase
I think it works so well for this page.

I thought I would show the back.
because it needed to be neat
I have hidden all the workings inside
by adding a blank sheet,
this has also made a nice thick page.

I used collage sheets from
Cemerony on etsy
to make up this page.

Hi all,

onto the page that had been Gessoed with
I then made hills & little houses from old book pages
& patterned papers,
the phrase was stamped with an alphabet onto old book pages

the heart is the free stamp this month (Feb)
from Craft Stamper Magazine,
the whole seen was glued down with Multi-Matte Medium
then I shaded around all the elements with a
graphite pencil & a blending stump,
to finish I doodled the top edge with a black marker

ART JOURNAL 2012, page 1

Hi all,
I am quite excited to share with you my first page in my journal,
if you want to know what type of book I am using & why
you can click HERE to go to an earlier post, or scroll down to it.

I have decided that I am not going to shear how I made the pages,
only what I used,
as I spend so much time blogging my posts because of my dyslexia
& I get very frustrated with spell check because I don't know
which word that comes up is the right one (I think I over sheared there)
I have never admitted my learning difficulties here before (scary stuff)
any way I want to focus more on creating the pages (because that's what I love)
& not blogging them, I hope you all understand.

Here's page 1,

you can double click if you want to read the fine print,
that's if you can read my handwriting (lol)

I used :-
Distress ink,
(Bundled Sage, Tumbled Glass, Brushed Corduroy,
Gathered Twigs & Iced Spruce)
a medium circles mask (that special touch of )
Swirls,Splats& dots A5 & Calligraphic mat 12
(the Artistic Stamper)
Face (Wendy Vecchi)
Wings, Butterfly plate (creative expressions)
scraps of patterned papers (various makes)
picture frame (Google search) then printed off computer.
many of the words & the title are printed off my computer
pit pen, white gel pen
some holographic stickers.

& there you have it!
see you soon with page number two.

MY JOURNAL FOR 2012

Hi all,
Just some info today,
& no pics (sorry) well maybe just one.

Just before Christmas I said I was going to start a journal,
& try to create a page each week, or at worst each fortnight,
well I have started it (my first page will show up here in a few days)
but first I wanted to tell you about the book I have decided to use
I was going to buy a moleskine journal
but after some research I found some people say that they fall apart,
& that you can't get them too wet (because the pages buckle)
I then tried some others,
& finally settled on this one because of it's size & it's weight of pages,
it is, DALER ROWNEY EBONY ARTIST SKETCH BOOK A5
it is 150g/m2 & 101lbs, it has 62 pages, it's acid free cartridge paper,
the pages feel nice & thick as well as smooth, & the book is a reasonable price.
here's a pic of the label on my A4 book,
which I haven't been brave enough to use yet, but is exactly the same.

so far I have made a few pages using
all sorts of different mediums & the pages hold up
very well, if I use distress ink then i don't use a
gesso over the page, unless I want a more subtle colour,
if I used acrylic paint, neo color 2 crayons or ink
sprays then I have given the page a base of gesso,
I have also just bought a product called adsorbent ground made by golden,
I will let you know how I get on with that as I go.

I hope this info has been a help to someone,
see you soon with my first page.

LIFE BOOK, PAGE 1, DONE :-D

Hi all,
Today I am shearing my first page
that I painted for my life book, year long art journal course,
if you don't know what it's all about,
you can click HERE to find out, & sign up,
it's never to late as you can join in & start at any time,
because the classes stay there for you to download
& take at your own pace.
Plus as an added bonus,
depending on which package you sign up to,
you can take 1,2 or 3 of Tams past courses (of your choice)
cool hay, so get your behind over THERE & check it out.
Don't worry if you are a beginner, like me as all
skill levels are welcome.

This is the first time I have painted a face after sketching one,
& this is only my second ever sketch,
(the first was done in the fab faces course
{one of Tam's other courses} I only done week one then lost my nerve)
so as this life book course is running live,
I am determined to be brave, & keep up with it.

Here's my first page, (it's a fold out)

I am not giving any details on how I achieved the page
or what I used, as it would spoil your experience of LIFE BOOK
when you take the course for yourself.

Hope you like it!
I am pleased with her as a first attempt

I can already tell after just one lesson,
this course is going to teach me so much,
& expand my knowledge of not just art & painting skills,
but products as well, as there are over 15 different teachers
throughout the year I am going to learn so many
different approaches & styles of art & painting.
Keep coming back if you are interested
in seeing more about what I'm up to in this course,
as there is something to do each week or two
I am going to post regularly.
[now I have said it I am more likely to do it (lol)}

365 ROUND UP OF ALL 12 PAGES

HI all,
I am here with December all filled out,
for the 365 journal challenge, over at
the Kathryn wheel blog
& the years round up photos

so first things first,
here's December all filled out (to conclude the year)

And now for the round up.
JANUARY,

FEBRUARY

MARCH

APRIL,

MAY,

JUNE,

JULY,

AUGUST,

SEPTEMBER,

OCTOBER,

NOVEMBER,

DECEMBER,

Well there it is,
looking back through this year,
I can definitely say that my confidence has grown so much,
at first I was so frightened of making a mistake that I wouldn't stick anything down
& I would write out what I wanted in each square on scrap
to make sure it was spaced properly & that it would fit on the square.
As the months went on I didn't worry so much about it all being perfect,
I stuck it all down straight away, so if I made a mistake it would have to stay there,
because that's the whole point of art journaling,
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE JOURNEY & NOT THE END RESULT,
I get that now,
by doing this calender for a whole year it has given me the confidence to go onto bigger things,
so instead of doing the calender challenge again, I am going to do a journal instead,
I would like to say I am going to do a page a week & end up with 52 pages,
but I think that would be to much pressure, so it will be one a month total 12 for definite,
but if I can fit it in I would like to make a page fortnightly I'll see how I get on,

Well I think I have waffled on enough for one day,
so I'll be off.

Thanks for stopping by,
Back soon,
Kat xx.

Here's some close up pictures of what's on this blog..
