ART JOURNAL 2012, page 1

Hi all,
I am quite excited to share with you my first page in my journal,
if you want to know what type of book I am using & why
you can click HERE to go to an earlier post, or scroll down to it.

I have decided that I am not going to shear how I made the pages,
only what I used,
as I spend so much time blogging my posts because of my dyslexia
& I get very frustrated with spell check because I don't know
which word that comes up is the right one (I think I over sheared there)
I have never admitted my learning difficulties here before (scary stuff)
any way I want to focus more on creating the pages (because that's what I love)
& not blogging them, I hope you all understand.

Here's page 1,

you can double click if you want to read the fine print,
that's if you can read my handwriting (lol)

I used :-
Distress ink,
(Bundled Sage, Tumbled Glass, Brushed Corduroy,
Gathered Twigs & Iced Spruce)
a medium circles mask (that special touch of )
Swirls,Splats& dots A5 & Calligraphic mat 12
(the Artistic Stamper)
Face (Wendy Vecchi)
Wings, Butterfly plate (creative expressions)
scraps of patterned papers (various makes)
picture frame (Google search) then printed off computer.
many of the words & the title are printed off my computer
pit pen, white gel pen
some holographic stickers.

& there you have it!
see you soon with page number two.

MY JOURNAL FOR 2012

Hi all,
Just some info today,
& no pics (sorry) well maybe just one.

Just before Christmas I said I was going to start a journal,
& try to create a page each week, or at worst each fortnight,
well I have started it (my first page will show up here in a few days)
but first I wanted to tell you about the book I have decided to use
I was going to buy a moleskine journal
but after some research I found some people say that they fall apart,
& that you can't get them too wet (because the pages buckle)
I then tried some others,
& finally settled on this one because of it's size & it's weight of pages,
it is, DALER ROWNEY EBONY ARTIST SKETCH BOOK A5
it is 150g/m2 & 101lbs, it has 62 pages, it's acid free cartridge paper,
the pages feel nice & thick as well as smooth, & the book is a reasonable price.
here's a pic of the label on my A4 book,
which I haven't been brave enough to use yet, but is exactly the same.

so far I have made a few pages using
all sorts of different mediums & the pages hold up
very well, if I use distress ink then i don't use a
gesso over the page, unless I want a more subtle colour,
if I used acrylic paint, neo color 2 crayons or ink
sprays then I have given the page a base of gesso,
I have also just bought a product called adsorbent ground made by golden,
I will let you know how I get on with that as I go.

I hope this info has been a help to someone,
see you soon with my first page.

LIFE BOOK, PAGE 1, DONE :-D

Hi all,
Today I am shearing my first page
that I painted for my life book, year long art journal course,
if you don't know what it's all about,
you can click HERE to find out, & sign up,
it's never to late as you can join in & start at any time,
because the classes stay there for you to download
& take at your own pace.
Plus as an added bonus,
depending on which package you sign up to,
you can take 1,2 or 3 of Tams past courses (of your choice)
cool hay, so get your behind over THERE & check it out.
Don't worry if you are a beginner, like me as all
skill levels are welcome.

This is the first time I have painted a face after sketching one,
& this is only my second ever sketch,
(the first was done in the fab faces course
{one of Tam's other courses} I only done week one then lost my nerve)
so as this life book course is running live,
I am determined to be brave, & keep up with it.

Here's my first page, (it's a fold out)

I am not giving any details on how I achieved the page
or what I used, as it would spoil your experience of LIFE BOOK
when you take the course for yourself.

Hope you like it!
I am pleased with her as a first attempt

I can already tell after just one lesson,
this course is going to teach me so much,
& expand my knowledge of not just art & painting skills,
but products as well, as there are over 15 different teachers
throughout the year I am going to learn so many
different approaches & styles of art & painting.
Keep coming back if you are interested
in seeing more about what I'm up to in this course,
as there is something to do each week or two
I am going to post regularly.
[now I have said it I am more likely to do it (lol)}

365 ROUND UP OF ALL 12 PAGES

HI all,
I am here with December all filled out,
for the 365 journal challenge, over at
the Kathryn wheel blog
& the years round up photos

so first things first,
here's December all filled out (to conclude the year)

And now for the round up.
JANUARY,

FEBRUARY

MARCH

APRIL,

MAY,

JUNE,

JULY,

AUGUST,

SEPTEMBER,

OCTOBER,

NOVEMBER,

DECEMBER,

Well there it is,
looking back through this year,
I can definitely say that my confidence has grown so much,
at first I was so frightened of making a mistake that I wouldn't stick anything down
& I would write out what I wanted in each square on scrap
to make sure it was spaced properly & that it would fit on the square.
As the months went on I didn't worry so much about it all being perfect,
I stuck it all down straight away, so if I made a mistake it would have to stay there,
because that's the whole point of art journaling,
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE JOURNEY & NOT THE END RESULT,
I get that now,
by doing this calender for a whole year it has given me the confidence to go onto bigger things,
so instead of doing the calender challenge again, I am going to do a journal instead,
I would like to say I am going to do a page a week & end up with 52 pages,
but I think that would be to much pressure, so it will be one a month total 12 for definite,
but if I can fit it in I would like to make a page fortnightly I'll see how I get on,

Well I think I have waffled on enough for one day,
so I'll be off.

Thanks for stopping by,
Back soon,
Kat xx.

Here's some close up pictures of what's on this blog..
