JOURNAL CALENDER (April 2011)

Hi all,
My April page is ready to show off,

My finished March page will appear by magic near the bottom of this post,
(I'm on time again can you believe it!!!) (lol)

For those of you that are not in the know,
this challenge lasts the whole year,
you have to journal every day in the form of 12 monthly calender pages,
& then head over to the kathryn wheel blog & link up your creation,
so Kate Crane & any one else can see what you have come up with,

If you like the sound of that? you can jump in at any time along the way,
so get cracking & head over HERE to check it out.

So here's my APRIL page,
I went with the April showers theme (not very original I know)
but I love how this page turned out,

As you can see I have used quite moody/stormy colours,
& I tryed to emanate muddy puddles with the background stamping.
I think I just about pulled it off,
Again for this month I have used Dyan Reaveley stash
The stamps & downloads can be found HERE in her shop.

Here's some shots of how I built the page up,

I took the Milled Lavender Distress Ink
& doing the direct to paper technique I swiped it all over the pages,
then with Dusty Concord I blended about 2inches around the edges,
then with Faded Jeans I blended just the edge,
this draws your eyes into the page.

Next I hunted around my stash for stamps that would
give a muddy puddle & wet splashes type affect,

I then used Distress ink
(milled lavender, weatherd wood & dusty concoard)
to stamp as pictured above.

Next is the good part of getting all the bits & bobs
together to complete the page.
I used dylusions stamps & downloads for the people & the wellies
the squares are again as the other months
part of a TSV on QVC bought ages ago (glad to put them to good use)
the chip board letters are also from the same set,
the days of the week are done on my computer,
as are the numbers (then punched out with a punch)
I used a Zig pen & white gel pen to doodle round some of the squares.

Again I haven't stuck much down yet
as it gives me the the freedom to change and improve
things during the month.

I think I've covered every thing for April
so back to March,

Here it is all filled in & stuck down,
I you would like to see the March post please Click Here

That's about it I think
hope you like this months page,
& thank you for all your lovely comments
about my March page last month,
UP DATE:
I have had a couple of people ask how big the squares are?
(well they are 4cm or 1 & a half inches)
& also what size my pages are?
(I use 2 A4 sheets to complete each month)
I hope that helps.

I'm off to put this on Kate's Blog,
so in the words of Tiger TTFN,
Thanks for stopping by,
Back soon,
Kat x.

  14. This looks brilliant fun !
Very tempted to have a bash myself ! but my art journal is only A5 - how does this compare to yours ? How big are the squares - it's hard to tell on your picture - is it hard to squeeze the journalling in ?

  16. Guess mine isn't original either then...it wouldn't be April without a few showers!
Loving your wellies and people in April and all the bright added doodles on March....I maybe have to look at this idea (it's my first year at this and not big at journalling).
Great work, happy crafting and looking forwards to seeing what you come up with next month.
